States could ease H1N1 vaccine rules as production increases

(CNN) - Restrictions limiting the H1N1 flu vaccine to high-risk groups could be lifted in many U.S. states now that production of the vaccine has increased, state health officials said Monday.

Illinois could open up vaccinations to the general public as soon as Friday, while Oregon plans to re-evaluate the progress of its vaccination program next week, representatives of those states' public health agencies told CNN. And Arizona wants to open up its vaccine stocks, but some of its large counties need more time to make sure high-risk populations get vaccinated, interim Department of Health Services Director Will Humble said.

"I think all the states are thinking the same thing," Humble said.

The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says 73 million doses of H1N1 vaccine are now available, up from about 42 million in mid-November. The agency has said children, pregnant women, parents of infants who can't be vaccinated, health-care workers and people with chronic illnesses should get the first inoculations, but CDC Director Thomas Frieden told reporters last week that some states have been opening up vaccinations as the number of available doses have increased.

"The focus is the priority group, the people who will benefit the most from the vaccine," Frieden said Friday. "But increasing numbers of communities and states are providing vaccines to larger groups of people."

Humble said Arizona has received about a third of the 4 million doses of H1N1 vaccine it expects to receive this flu season. Local health officials are attempting a "balancing act" between getting their high-risk patients vaccinated and opening up the vaccines to the wider population while there is a "sense of urgency" about the virus, he said.

The disease, commonly known as "swine flu," is currently in decline, but authorities expect another wave of cases in early 2010, Humble said.

"I don't want to move to early, but I don't want to wait too late, either," he said.

Two other states contacted by CNN on Monday said they are examining the issue as well.

In Illinois, health officials expect to ease their restrictions on the vaccine "in the very near future," perhaps as early as the end of the week, said Kelly Jakubek, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Public Health. And in Oregon, Public Health Department spokeswoman Christine Stone said authorities plan to re-examine the issue next week - but she added, "Every week things are changing."

"The number of doses coming into the state has been much more impressive over the last few days," Stone said. Doctors are "really, really pushing the priority groups this week," she said.

The state has so far vaccinated nearly 892,000 people - about 46 percent of its high-risk population - and received an allotment of 126,000 doses of swine flu vaccine this week, Stone said.

All three states have widespread outbreaks of the H1N1 virus. Illinois has reported 2,187 hospitalizations from the disease, with 67 confirmed deaths. In Oregon, 1,258 people have been hospitalized and 57 people have died, while Arizona has recorded 1,488 hospitalizations and 125 deaths.

Nationwide, the CDC estimated the number of U.S. deaths in mid-November at about 3,900.

Sadly, I strongly suspect a much darker reason for drug company's delaying adequate amounts of the H1N1 vaccine.

It is to force their customers and government officials to 'accept' the much cheaper, faster and far more dangerous use of synthetic DNA batching machines to almost immediately create millions of doses of synthetic DNA based vaccines.

Beware Folks, one single microscopic screw-up with a DNA batching sequencer could lead to a very large horrific problem to everyone that took that bad-sequenced DNA vaccine.

I hope the American Pubic fights aggressively against Big Pharma and their Republican lawmaker puppets who are very actively attempting to strong-arm their customers to accept cheap and fast DNA batching machines to replace the current tried and true egg based vaccine production lines.

Global warming is a solid facts !!!!! If it werenet , we would still be in the ICE age..!!!!!!

This vaccine is a joke and they have known about it for a year now and we're still not prepared. What's going to happen when our power grids get zapped and there is no power for days.

Priority Group? Those who will most benefit? Give me a break. The only way this could possibly become a pandemic is if it is intentionally spread by say....the vaccine itself. This vaccine is no better, and this outcome will be no better than it was in 1976. I have cause to believe it could be far worse. I am afraid of the people who don't care enough to do their own research. The vaccine has been proven to be more dangerous than the virus itself. If they vaccinate the children in my child's school, I will remove my child from public school. I am not alone... Call me what you like, but please do your own research, and that doesn't mean ..."I heard it on the news so it must be true.".... If a pandemic is to occur, it will not be by nature. The people who stand to gain from such an occurance are counting on ignorance and fear. And they stand to gain ALOT, so they will be pushing hard and playing subtle mind games..( which include mainstream media support). I'm asking this of you for you... and our children....PLEASE RESEARCH THIS VIRUS AND THE H1N1 VACCINE BEFORE YOU BLINDLY ACCEPT WHAT THEY ARE FEEDING YOU...Thank you for your time...Sincerely.

A. Smith, Thank you for mentioning the DNA aspect. I am studying this with my 6th grader and the "horrific problem" you mentioned reminded me of his vocabulary word...MUTATION-CHANGE IN GENES OR CHROMOSOMES THAT CAN RESULT FROM AN ERROR IN MITOSIS, WHICH ADDS VARIATIONS TO THE GENES OF A SPECIES. Not something they should do blindly on a large scale, as it would be with a vaccine. I have heard they will be using liver cells instead of chicken eggs, but the DNA aspect didn't dawn on me until I read your comment. Thank you for opening my eyes even more... These people are nuts!...and they are depending on ignorance of the masses. Without it they crumble. So thank you for doing your part to educate myself and all those I influence as well. ..I bet they just hate the internet...lol.

Hey Akber.... we are talking about HINI, but both are part of an agenda to grab power...so maybe that's why you commented? Real scientists who are not only NOT being paid big bucks to agree with warming, but are brave enough to risk everything to tell us the truth....say we are actually experiencing a GLOBAL COOLING. ..and just like the comment I made above...I'm not an expert, but I am willing to spend the time to research and able to use discernment when I gather my information to weed out the untruths...tho' they are really good at it..lol. I will continue to learn all I can... and I hope you will do the same.

As for the HINI, I agree with you I have already taken my children out of school and i am home schooling them. when i asked my children s Dr what was in it she said chicken thus this is a lie so my trust will come from my own gut and not theirs
