Do you truely know about the meaning of investigation? I don't feel you did investigatigation, it's unfair. I'm really disappointed in CNN.

Patricia Thompson   January 6th, 2010 3:47 pm ET

This organization is a dangerous mind-control cult. My brother was pressured by techniques that ended with his giving over to Dahn over $50,000 in one year, for classes and trips that he thought would make him a master and one of a few chosen ones who would survive after the world comes to an end. At first the exercises seem benign, but there is an insidious agenda, especially for people the Dahn leaders target as useful to them. He ended up having a severe breakdown. Thank you, CNN for exposing Dahn for what it is: a money making sham for the leaders at the top.

Campbell,

I enjoyed this segment because it lies close to home for me. My sister participated in this "yoga cult" and it truly tore my family apart. It took over her life completely: financially, emotionally, mentally, and physically. She decided to leave graduate school for a semester in an effort to hinder the burn-out effect, and she found Dahn Yoga as the alternative. It was fine initially, when she was simply a spectator going through the exercises and learning about this acclaimed practice belonging to a different, rich culture. What resulted was far worse. It's hard to explain, but my family and I witnessed a transformation of her personality. She changed her diet, her sleeping patterns, and even began speaking like a stereotypical Yogi. She began rising up the Dahn Yoga ladder of experience and admitted to me at one point that she wanted to become a "master" (ultimately, however, she would find out that her birth place would not allow for her to reach the highest level of Dahn). She would participate in the infamous retreats in Arizona, spending thousands of dollars each time, and she would return with a look of sickly paleness and literally would walk around hunched over for a few days as if she could not support her neck and head. Although I always wanted my sister to find her own way in life, I could not avoid the constant tension she had between herself and my parents. I was constantly mediating both sides during the arguments, trying to convince my parents of my sisters' good will and ability to see Dahn Yoga for what it really is and trying to convince my sister that my parents were only looking out for her well being. It was a terrible situation and it actually coincided with me leaving my parents house to live on my own for the first time (though I had been planning it for a while).
Several months later in the present, my sister has finally quit Dahn Yoga and relinquished its spell on her. She is actually involved in the lawsuit against Dahn Yoga. What is most saddening is the fact that she is so embarrassed now talking about how she succumbed to the will of Dahn Yoga that she cries whenever the subject is brought up. For me, it's like that entire year of my life I did not have a sister and felt torn between both sides of my family.

Thank you for bringing this subject to light on your program.

Before I started Dahn Yoga, I was so weak I couldn't walk more than 10 minutes without resting. I was on a dangerous dosage of medicine for my thyroid, I had constant fatigue.
After 2 years of Dahn Yoga practice, my thyroid healed so I could stop taking my medicine. I regained my health again. My doctors could not understand how it was possible, but they just said if it works keep going. I was never pressured to do anything. I have a science degree so even I couldn't understand why it works, but it does. After 2 years of healing myself and watching members around me heal, I decided to share this with as many other people as I could so I became an instructor.

the definition of a cult a formal religious veneration/ a religious systme. Could these allegations be likened to the Catholic Church and the sexual abuse charges of the the priests. Did anyone call the Catholic Church a cult?

As a member of a Dahn Yoga studio/ since I have taken Yoga/ I am better to manage my stress/ I feel better/ and more focused in my daily activities. The allegations against the Yoga center diminish the good that has been done with the thousands of members who no longer suffer debilitating pain from fibromyalgia, who no longer take antidepressants, and are better functioning individuals in the community. It would be nice to show that side of the coin/ instead of calling it a cult. If that is the case, so is the Catholic Church and all organized religion. Dahn Yoga is not another Jonestown.

I am former Dahn member and went through their healer program in Sedona. I think it is important to separate the teaching from the teacher/teachers of Dahn. First, the methods Dahn Yoga teaches are really far from Yoga – they are a mix of qi gong, korean martial arts and tai chi. The method in themselves can be very beneficial for health and mental and emotional well-being. These tools have been around for thouands of years and Dr. Lee has simply picked here and there and come up with his own combination he claims he created. However, you can find all the techniques in older texts. So, the real issue here is the dishonesty and misleading tactics Dr. Lee and his followers unashamedly employ. I got to know several of the korean masters and even had Dr. Lee come to my office. I believe that the masters truely believe that their persuasion techniques are justified and that they feel they are truely doing good. This is a cultural characteristic to the south korean population in that they will tend to deify someone they believe to be a fully enlightened master, not unlike the situation in north korea where the leader is portrayed as godlike. Therefore, I hope that people can separate the teachings of qi gong, yoga, tai chi and meditation out from the entanglement with Dahn Yoga and the leader thereof. These methods can provide great benefit to the ailing health of many of us here in the U.S.A. But it is these people who take advantage of us that need to be recognized.

Nola   January 6th, 2010 5:32 pm ET

I am a 67 year old woman with MS who is a member of Dahn Yoga. I am a former business owner, the first woman in 5 different positions, and I have a keen sense if someone is trying to take advantage of me.

I have been an active member of Dahn Yoga for 3.5 years, and I have made measurable and positive changes with my disease that are directly related to my active participation in Dahn Yoga. I have had mostly positive experiences with Dahn Yoga, and I (along with my doctor) credit Dahn Yoga for helping me cope with and improve my health. I was at my 6 month check-up on Jan. 4, 2010, and my neurologist said that had I not only have stayed in a non-degenerated state with my MS, but my balance has IMPROVED. There are many of these stories, mine is only one of many.

A person with MS came into a Dahn Yoga center in Phoenix in a wheel chair, and over a period of time was out of her wheel chair, but is also teaching classes. The National MS Society had Dahn Yoga make a video for people with MS, if this was a cult, do you think the National MS Society would be involved? You could check this out, if you really want a good story?

Dahn Yoga is NOT a cult, but it does require discipline on your part to help your mind and body heal to it's best ability. But, then Self-Discipline is always needed to make any changes in anyone.

I issue Kyra Phillips (or anyone else from CNN) an invitation, and a challenge, to join Dahn Yoga classes for 6 – 12 months and see what it will do for you. I would suggest that, if you really are after the truth, you might send someone to report who has some health problem, so you can see the change that will happen if you do Dahn Yoga 3-5 times a week. Are you willing to see the other side of the story, because there is another side, and it is very positive?

Dalie Cabrera   January 6th, 2010 5:46 pm ET

I enrolled at the Dahn Yoga center in Centreville, VA. I was simply looking for yoga classes to aleviate stress. I remember coming home after only two weeks and telling my husband I felt as if I was participating in a cult. The center definitely had a cult like atmosphere. The instructors had students "sit down" after classes and encouraged them to talk to each other about healing. I remained enrolled for about another 5 weeks, became discouraged with the program and asked for my money back. The "master" at the center returned my money after I threatened to write an unfavorable review of the center. The exercises were more meditation oriented rather than traditional yoga exercises. There is a strong spiritual component to the practice unlike in regular yoga classes. In all, I do think that this practice could be classified as a cult, but they definitely do prey on the weak and troubled people that enroll. I was approached for several private sessions and was encouraged to attend their center in Sedona. The "master" kept telling me she wanted to "help me", and recommended a bunch of seminars which were offered at the center. I never participated or showed any interest in these seminars, so I do not know whether there was an additional charge.

Robert   January 6th, 2010 6:45 pm ET

I have been practicing Dahn Yoga with many benefits for 7 years. I hope that you can show more of the good work that Dahn Yoga does for people.

Lucie Vogel Imbezzeled illegal money from Dahn Yoga and members! Jade Harrelson had a lot of mental issues before starting Dahn. Why would you spotlight these few individuals with twisted stories while there are so many wonderful stories of people who benefit from this practice.

I am personally greatly disappointed in the caliber of CNN reporting and your goals; do you really want to spread correct and good information to the globe to help people...in my opinion you are doing the opposite.

honestabe   January 6th, 2010 8:04 pm ET

It has been known, internally within the Dahn Yoga organization, that employees are told to constantly censor what is shared with the public or to those attending yoga classes. Unfortunately, these habits transcend the line and those who participate also censor how the organization works. As a participant, I found myself omitting important details about what I was doing in order to not scare my friends and family or even raise objections. I am glad that this organization's shortcomings are coming to light through this program.

tony   January 6th, 2010 8:10 pm ET

Why does CNN insist on calling Ilchi Lee's son his bodyguard? I don't understand this? CNN, you continue to loose your credibility.

Christine Janes   January 6th, 2010 8:44 pm ET

was very happy that CNN commented that they had received many emails in praise ot Dahn Yoga. As a member for 3 years I
always hear other members talk about how much this practice has helped them physically and mentally. For me it has been the difference between taking medication on a daily basis for nerve pain in my jaw to taking no medication for the entire 3 years I have been a member. I am a lifetime member and look forward to many happy, healthy years with Dahn Yoga.

JungAe   January 6th, 2010 8:50 pm ET

This show is really unfair and makes me sad and angry toward CNN.
Please find out good news from DAHN YOGA. There more sharable news inthe world. Stop doing this unethical TV show.

Sam   January 6th, 2010 8:53 pm ET

Another cult is http://www.onenessuniversity.org. Oneness started in India and Bhagavan, Amma & their son Krishna 'gift' themselves money from this movement.

Louis Sadler   January 6th, 2010 8:54 pm ET

For 10 years I have practiced Dahn Yoga. I have spent a lot of time learning what Dahn had to offer while running a real estate/ construction company. Dahn Yoga has helped me own my life and take responsiblity for myself. I rose to the position of Myoung Sa – a step below a master. I also helped to open 4 centers, 2 of which I provided tenant improvements at cost – a decision I made, not Dahn.I am 66 years old. I have found that age makes a lot of difference in acceptance of teachings. Many of the students came from trouble backgrounds including physical and sexual abuse – many of them looking for someone to releave them from their pain. Well Dahn Yoga teaches that you have only to look inward to find that person. a message missed by most participants. I revered no one – Ilchi Lee has a message to deliver and nothing more. As a business man I know that it takes money to run a business. I also know that people who are troubled easly put those who help on a pedestal. I know because I have been there. In Korea a teacher is revered by the student- some what different then our culture. While others may feel they were taken advantage of I am grateful for having had the opportunity to experience Dahn Yoga so much so that I have explained it's impact on me in a book I wrote. Please be objective – I know it doesn't sell but so far you haven't been.

Dahn yoga parent victim   January 6th, 2010 8:55 pm ET

Current Dahn Yoga employees are just victims of the same brainwashing described by the more fortunate ex-Dahn Yoga followers/employees. These so-called employees are working many more hours than they are being paid and should be investigated by the Labor Dept. for abuse. I encourage any parent of a Dahn Yoga youth convert to withdraw all financial support as the ONLY method of regaining your son/daughter back from this MOONIE-like brainwashing cult.

Janice Gamiz   January 6th, 2010 9:14 pm ET

I've been a Dahn Yoga member for over a year and it's one of the best things I've ever done for myself. The Dahn Yoga staff are extremely caring, dedicated and helpful and I always look forward to the exercise classes.

I found one segment in your Part II show to be offensive and misguided. Brain wave vibration does work and it's a lot of fun to do. Dr. Gupta does not know everything. You, your staff and Dr. Gupta should try it before laughing it off as if it wasn't legitimate. Once you start going, you won't want to stop because you start feeling so much better. If you want to do a fair report of Dahn Yoga, you should at the very least try a few classes and see for yourselves what they are really about.

Yirser   January 6th, 2010 9:19 pm ET

Why is this Dahn stuff called Yoga. I haven't seen anything about what they do that is actually Yogic. It is just a bunch of watered down, yoga-like facsimile. It is not real Yoga and it is a shame that this type of crap gets associated with what Yoga is really about.

Cheri   January 6th, 2010 9:21 pm ET

Prior to attending a Dahn Yoga class I was visiting my chiropractor on a very regular basis to sort out my body from pain due to multiple car accidents from 30 years ago. After joining Dahn Yoga and attending class on a regular basis I now visit the chiropractor once every 6 months or so for a relaxing tune-up. Dahn Yoga has increased my flexibility and made it possible for me to sleep comfortably without pain, and walk around daily without neck or back pain remarkable after all these years of agonizing pain. Something I thought I would just have to accept and live with the rest of my life. Dahn Yoga is a blessing in my life. DY helps students work on the mind, body, soul connection, nothing cultish that I have witnessed. They work on creating peace and harmony. There are many cd's out there that work at a subconscious level to improve bad, unhealthy behaviors’. Many of my fellow classmates rave about the benefits of going to Sedona, or the weekend workshops; they are students just like me. Why do people have to be so negative about things and create problems where there are none?? DY has us center our thoughts on healing the world, making it a better peaceful place and it starts with each of us.... just like praying in church... strength in numbers for the good of all. No one at my center has held a gun to our heads making us sign up for any classes, or hold any pose for an unreasonable amount of time and we're allowed to rest if needed. Of course they encourage classes for our mental well being and growth...and they are a for profit business. My 24 Hour Fitness Center talked to me for over a 1/2 hour trying to convince me I needed a coach... and asks me every time I go in to run on the treadmill if I'm ready for a coach... Has 24-hour fitness been investigated for being a cult??? Oprah teaches mind, body, soul connections... maybe that's why she is moving on, she wants to spend more time developing her cult following?! Absurd!. More and more I choose to turn off the news... the news creates so much negativity in the minds of people giving them ideas that they may have never thought of before... polluting young and old minds alike, hmmmm could newsmakers be brain washing us trying to get us to be a part of their negative cult they call news/entertainment????? I am better physically and mentally because of Dahn Yoga... Ah, shi won ha da "It feels so good"!

Answered Prayer   January 6th, 2010 9:30 pm ET

Its still early. Dahn's Rapid Response Team will join us later with their glowing reports. My love and prayers go out to the folks who came forward. Jade, I love and support you. And I believe you.

abeja750   January 6th, 2010 9:35 pm ET

mmhhhh!! I bet that there are dark interest behind this investigation!! Dahn Yoga is only peace, love, meditation, work out, expensive ... yes, but they are far to be a cult!!

Sara C.   January 6th, 2010 9:36 pm ET

Dahn Yoga is not a cult. Dahn Yoga programs have helped many people achieve goals of health and happiness. Please look at dahnyogavoice.com for the other side of this story.

Joan   January 6th, 2010 10:16 pm ET

I'm really disappointed in CNN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Im   January 6th, 2010 10:21 pm ET

I was so dissapointed by CNN. This show is totally untrue. CNN is being used by manipulated people. I have been DAHN YOGA member for over 4 years. My life has been changed by DAHN YOGA because I found true value of myself , confidence, and strength. My life has been happier than ever. DAHN YOGA is not a cult!!!!!

Angela   January 6th, 2010 10:29 pm ET

I truly cannot understand the intent to focus your program on an extremely small group of people's experience, essentially one person’s experience. All legal actions have been dismissed with the exception of this one. Jade's experience sounds terrible and regrettable. On the other hand, there are thousands of people who have gained more personal improvement in their lives than accomplished through any other source. When all the other segments on your program focused on terrorism, heroin, and other excessively ugly events in the world, why could you not focus even a small segment on the positive, life changing training that Dahn yoga has brought to so many people? Allowing some positive exploration into bringing peace back to this world would be a welcomed change.

Concerned   January 6th, 2010 10:44 pm ET

I am concerned with these allegations, and interested to find out if there were any reported adverse events with children.

Donna   January 6th, 2010 10:47 pm ET

It is a darn shame Dahn Yoga is being portrayed this way, and many are being hurt by this report than helped. People have free will and make their own choices. It is not a cult, but a company that dedicates itself to helping others lead healthier, happier lives. I am a successful instructor who was never coerced, forced, tortured, manipulated. I've taken almost all the programs. locally, in Sedona, even went to Korea. They were all worth it. It was like getting my PhD in mind and body training, much cheaper than PhD, and more worth it, and more useful.
CNN – I pray you end this series with more balanced reporting.

Eun Lee   January 6th, 2010 11:43 pm ET

This news is so biased. If TV news is fair to deliver right information to the watchers, it should be in neutral. But, what I watched is only one side of story. The important thing is if Dahn Yoga is a cult, why their members are not sueing them? Members are quiet, but former employees are sueing... that means this is not for justice, but for expecting others. The women who insisted to get sexual abuse from the founder... she is adult. If her statement is true, why she did not take action right after she quit? Everything dose not make any sense to me. This is why people is saying I don't watch cable news... they are always for someting else...

Jessie L.   January 6th, 2010 11:47 pm ET

Ms. Campbell
I saw this report wasn't right NEWS for people.
DAHN YOGA has great job for guide better health life.
This is can't understanding your view.
Please open clerly and see how much doing great things around of it.

Asking for Honesty   January 6th, 2010 11:59 pm ET

It's so ironic that such a highly credible news station would do so little research on such a controversial story.

First off, I'm sure you've heard this many times bowing is a tradition practiced by many different religions & cultures all around the world. To call bowing a means of toture isn't just insulting Dahn & everyone involved with it, but everyone else in the world who practice it on a regular basis. Liza states that she did "3000 bows at one point".. one point.. go to a Buddhist temple and ask one of the members there how many times they've done it. I assure you it's a lot more than one.
My assumption is that Liza is speaking of the 3000 bows that I was also involved with. If people leaving the room to take bathroom breaks and me having a bottle of water next to me means "no eating or drinking"... that's just ludicrous.. plus I don't recall anyone wailing, rolling around, or puking...

Secondly, when did his son, secretary, and the President of Dahn become his bodyguards?

Third, Jade had no intention of returning to the US until Lucie Vogel their ringleader paid for her plane ticket to join their lawsuit cause. She claims in her lawsuit that she had no money to come back.. that was the first time they filed the claim.. the second time (after finding pictures of her traveling to China & other places).. apparently she did have enough funds... CNN PLEASE CHECK YOU FACTS! Don't just listen to these people and their issues & claims. If you actually read the claims, you would right away know what the truth is. Also why don't you check out Jade's medical records while your at it.. accusing someone of sexual assault is a serious misdemeanor... it's like Michael Jackson, because of his money people accused him of something outrageous..

Fourth, you report and they complain about taking out student loans to pay for the programs. I am dumbfounded by this claim. You should ask them specifically who that person was. I was pressured by the same person, Lucie Vogel. She's the leader of this whole clan, and I'm not surprised she's not showing her face on national TV, but using the others as her pawns & minions to do her dirty work. If you want to call someone a brainwashing, manipualtive leader only seeking money, ask about Lucie Vogel. She's the "superior & master" that Jade comments on. She embezzeled 10's of thousands of dollars from the company. She's the one who came up with the clever plan to take out student loans. I should know I was one of the people she pressured. She even wrote a letter of apology for what she did and asked the company to bail her out. And they did. Why don't you report on these facts??

Fifth, the stable you guys talk about is where the horses that are used in Mago Garden for members are raised. Plus, Ilchi Lee is prominent writer and has well over 30, maybe up to 50 books published. He in his own right makes his earnings. Even the royalties he makes he donates to the non-profit organizations to build peace parks, start reserach institutes, an online university accepted by the government. Why don't you do research on that and his relationship with prominent leaders from around the world?

Sixth, why don't you talk about why you guys took on such a irregular story for CNN? Because they have connections with people at the station perhaps? That is why you are only showing negative sides isn't it?

Seventh, slightly off topic, their lawyer can't even type properly.. he's a pecker. And he's not really even a notable lawyer.. he's one of those "got into an accident?" lawyers..

Eighth... I could go on forever..

I started Dahn when I was merely in the 5th grade. I'm now in my mid 20's. The first allegations I'll probalby get is I've been brainwashed since childhood. Ironically it was my mom who first took me to the center, and when I first decided to become an instructor my parents weren't to please with my decision. It's like a child decides to be a musician instead of a doctor. Not the best job "society" claims. I stopped attending regularly in high school because of my studies and extra curricular activities. I simply had no more time for it. So I stopped. Then in college I returned on my own accord. When I was younger I really didn't the behind things about Dahn, I just knew it was a place for me to exercise and feel good about myself. But after I went in as a college student, I realized what it was all about. I was taken aback by it instantly. It took me some time before I realized how it was helping me grow as a person. I gained more confidence in myself and it help me come out of my introverted shell. Everything I gained I knew I wanted to help others experience also. That's why I decided to become an instructor, not because anyone coerced me into it. Even though many people criticized, and I will be honest, at times this path isn't easy and many times I did think about quitting, but then I remembered why I started on this path in the first place. I look at my members and see how much they are changing through my guidance, (which I may have not learned directly from Ilchi Lee, but still his guidance was there) I knew & still know that this is where I want to be. IF that is the definition of a cult, then so be it. Call me whatever you want to satisfy your own egos, but I know what is real for me. That's all that matters. As lont as there is someone willing to learn, I will be there. And as long as I am willing to learn, I will respect Ilchi Lee for passing down his teachings through many other instructors to me.

This may not be the same experience as the other 27. Like most organizations, whether it be a corporation, small business, or even non-profit. (And I know for sure it happens in the news room) not everyone is going to like everything. An apple may be enjoyed by many, but not by all.

So CNN, Campbell Brown & staff. You have one more day to prove to the world what CNN is really about. Sharing the truth with the public. I admired your company as a young teen because I believed that you shared the truth with the world, when others didn't. Anderson Cooper was one of my favorite reporters, but because of this you even slander his name for me. And now honestly, I really don't know if I can ever believe the stories you broadcast.

Please do not let the troubled hearts of 27 misrepresent that of 5000 content emplyoees and countless number of members who have endlessly benefited from the Dahn practice. You cannot judge something you do not experience or learn for yourself. Do not live vicariously through others. Pick your own apples and don't let people give you oranges claiming they are apples.

waveyoga   January 7th, 2010 12:02 am ET

In my center, Brain Wave Vibration class is most popular class, members inlcuding me love Brain Wave Vibration training. Stop insult Brain Wave Vibration and us. Your guyes totally have no idea about the truth.

waveyoga   January 7th, 2010 12:09 am ET

Brain Wave Vibration and other DahnYoga exercises have helped me solve health problems and find peace of mind. I almost do Brain Wave Vibration training by myself everyday. Why your guyes judge something which your guyes do not know?

waveyoga   January 7th, 2010 12:18 am ET

I came USA about one year ago from China as an international student. I met DahnYoga and I took almost all its programs. They were all worth it. Not only I took its programs, I also donated money for Mago Satue. CNN, please focus on where the money DahnYoga used for. Your guyes should be shamed on what you did to DahnYoga.

Danny   January 7th, 2010 1:10 am ET

I have been doing this practice over 5 years and I no longer need to take blood pressure pills, pain pills, anxiety pills or allergy pills. Some of the extra training I choose to do did cost more but I am glad I did it because It saved me so much in Dr. bills. I did bow training and other training talked about in your show. Never did I see what was described in the lawsuit.
I am disappointed in CNN for becoming more like TMZ. I hope you spotlight the good that has come to the many who have attended there classes. Do you really feel the ones who are in your interview did it because they want to save the world? Even the body language of Jade while she speakes showes she don't believe what she is saying. Ask an expert about that before you pass it off as the truth.

George   January 7th, 2010 1:17 am ET

I joined Dahn Yoga about 5 months ago as a result of reading Brain Wave Vibration by its founder, Ilchi Lee. The first indroductory class was like a typical yoga class with stretching positions, but it also had other elements I was not familiar with, such as shaking the body and limbs and performing these 5 positions, all of which I later learned are utilized to stimulate your life force or "Ki" energy. The practice also includes tapping your energy "Ki" center, which is 2 inches below your navel and doing internal intestinal exercises. All of these exercises stimulate life force in the body and more importantly connect the energy centers in your body and brain, which when done regularly do have a profound positive effect on your physical, mental and emotional well being, that you strongly feel after just a few sessions.

Riding on this "Dahn High" after just a few weeks of classes, I was approached by the center's Dahn Master and encouraged to sign-up for a lifetime membership....Well, as many current and even past Dahn members know, the practice does work and so you do not hesitate in paying the extra money for this lifetime investment in something of great value for your physical, mental and spiritual well being and life...

Well, little did I know at the time that there was so much more and deeper learning and practices that comprise Dahn Yoga as you move up the levels, such as sleeping tiger and of course Bowing that you heard about from these disgruntled former Dahn masters...

In my opinion as a fairly new member, I view Dahn Yoga practice and the associated exercises has requiring mental and physical discipline and regular dedicated practice, very similar to learning and mastering a martial art, or training for a marathon, both of which I have eexperienced personnally and quess what, its the same....no pain, no gain!!!

So, let's face it, there is real pain in this world....mental, physical and emotional, and sometimes to improve your self, you need to feel and learn to overcome and embrace your pain as a means to your growth, whether it buiding muscles in the gym or running a marathon!!

So, do I think Dahn yoga is a cult....ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! (BTW, I am a practicing Catholic and that is not a cult either!!!) I do think that Dahn Yoga is a serious business that does in fact provide a very unique and beneficial product and service to people to help them physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually....even some of the former Masters that are part of the lawsuit will attest to this, or why did they really want to become Dahn Masters in the first place!!!

So, the issue it seems is not with the Dahn Customers, based on what has been written here these past several days, they are all very convinced (as am I) that the practice does indeed have profound and lasting benefits for one's physical, mental and emotional well being.

I firmly believe that the issue resides with the role and treatment of the Dahn employees (Masters) by the Dahn Parent Company...it seems to me as a middle manager for large corporation for over 30 years, we are held responsible for meeting goals and quotas that grow the company financially, and I am sure the same is true for Dahn Yoga and its centers...Now I know that they are beginning to franchise Dahn Centers, so the parent company may already be getting the message that they need to change their business model in order to survive and grow in the future, which I hope and pray it will endure this attack by some of its disgruntled employees...

CNN, you really need to get the other side of the story from satisfied Dahn customers and also from other loyal and hard-working Dahn Masters, who truly believe in what they do to help and heal people...

I'm really disappointed in CNN & Campbell Brown!!!

Aaron   January 7th, 2010 3:15 am ET

CNN please do your job of reporting both sides of the story! Tonight's story is grossly one-sided! You omit the testimonials of several individuals who've known Jade to falsely allege sexual stories in the past, you show the Dahn Yoga Lawyers for less than 5 seconds, and just briefly mention, 'Jade didn't file any police report and didn't file the lawsuit until 2 years after the fact.' THESE ARE CRITICAL POINTS INTELLIGENT PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW TO MAKE UP THEIR OWN MINDS!!!

Jennifer   January 7th, 2010 3:29 am ET

That bowing is done quite often in Koreas' Bhudist temples. People do up to 5,000 bows.

Susan   January 7th, 2010 11:21 am ET

I am VERY disppointed by the coverage in CNN today. Every side has 2 stories, these are basic journalism guidelines, and we saw very little of Dahn Yoga's side. The lawyer's statements were cut off, we couldn't hear any explanation. Please have a balanced amount of statements from both sides. Also please see http://www.dahnyogavoice.com for Dahn yoga's official statements and statements from members.

First of all Ilchi Lee doesn't have bodyguards. But considering how assaultive CNN was to him at the Mago Earth park event, perhaps he should get some. Those were simply his assistants and other employees.

Also, just because a doctor hasn't heard of brain wave vibration, doesn't mean it doesn't work. Science is a valuable tool for our world, but it also has its limitations. Brain wave vibration is rooted in "Ki energy" which has been known for thousands of years, much longer than western medicine. If a medical doctor does not understand or is resistant to Ki, then it will be difficult to understand Brain Wave vibration. Doctors are important, but they do not have the final say on what is healthy and what is not. Only you yourself does. Brain wave vibration is very simply and has been able to calm the mind faster and more simply than many other exercises.

Learning dahn yoga helped me get pregnant after trying, stressing and crying for 2 and half years. I actually felt the healing happen in my lower abdomen. It is not yoga in the sense of Indian yoga, but an unique distillation of tai chi, martial arts, Chinese medicine and more, even science. I am a lifetime member, so after paying off the initial price, I only have to pay $120 per year for classes for the rest of my life. I don't have a problem with the fact that want to make money; it's not a charity. I have seen other self-help organizations (most, in fact), where they believe so much in their product that they push, even pressure, people to do more classes, seminars, etc. This does not rise to the level of being a cult, although some people do not react well to it. There is much love and compassion in the dahn yoga community. THE REAL PROBLEM HERE IS CNN, which is pandering to sensationalism and exhibits a cultural ignorance of practices such as meditation.

Kirstin Elaine Myers   January 7th, 2010 2:37 pm ET

I have direct experience with the people who run Dahn Yoga and their sister organizations IBREA, BG Consulting etc. and I wrote an informative blog posting yesterday that was not yet accepted. I was wondering why? I put down information based on my direct experience with them as my clients.

Kirstin Elaine Myers   January 7th, 2010 3:05 pm ET

I have direct experience with Il Chi Lee's organizations including Dahn Yoga, IBREA and BG Consulting. They hired my company Globond to do PR and various kinds of marketing and strategy advisory work. I did not pay enough attention to the fact that I was the latest in a long line of non-Korean firms that they hired and later discard to then hire the next one. The reason for this constant turnover is that our constructive criticism is not welcome. When I became aware of the latest lawsuits in Spring of 2009 I had to admit that I myself had witnessed and experienced many of the alleged cult-like behaviors being mentioned in CNN's current investigation. When I brought these issues to their attention, as well as various medical inacurracies in IlChi Lee's Brainwave Vibration book (shown to me by a respected medical doctor) Dahn Yoga/IBREA reacted by terminating their contract with my company and instead hiring a "Reputation Doctor". By the way my understanding is that after less than 6 months, that Reputation Doctor is no longer with them either. As for the "Spokesperson" Joseph Alexander, he is the General Counsel for IBREA and was my original attorney when I founded Globond, though that did not stop him from initiating a lawsuit against me in retaliation of my refusing to accept the behaviors of his organization. Joseph is now in danger of losing his right to practice law to his violation of conflict of interest with me, his former client, but he is too brainwashed to even care. My opinions in this situation are therefore biased but I am relieved and happy that CNN is doing this investigation to protect others from this harmful, vindictive group of people. By the way, the organization calls on its staff and members to act quickly and aggressively when they are attacked and a few months back, when the Santa Fe Reporter did an expose on IlChi Lee and his scandals, Dahn Yoga people went to all of the newspaper boxes in town, removed all of the copies and threw them in the trash to keep people from seeing the story. What they do not realize is that the truth always comes out. Finally, I know that when Dahn Yoga's business went down, Il Chi made no sacrifices but the already low wages of their employees were cut without warning and many of them had checks bounce and other financial ramifications. Staff were also required to attend "training sessions" until 2am and on Sundays at peril of losing their jobs if they refused. At these sessions, they were told to scream out their rage and hatred of the former employees engages in the lawsuit and also told what to say and what not to say if the press came around. If anyone doubts the validity of my comments, they only have to do one on one interviews with employees in Sedona, Arizona and ask the right questions. The truth will come out one way or the other and I applaud CNN for following this story. The benefits of the practices of Dahn Yoga are real but unfortunately the people behind the business are unscrupulous and dangerous. Perhaps after this organization is toppled, former members can restart the business with the right principles and ethics and everyone will win.

Vibeke   January 7th, 2010 5:24 pm ET

I have been a member of Dahn Yoga for almost 3 years, and I can honestly say that this is the best thing I have ever done for myself. I am turning 50 this month and have never been in better shape physically or mentally! I know my friends and family will attest to this! It is very unfortunate that CNN chooses to air such a one-sided story, but I guess it happens everyday in the media but we only notice when it is about something that affects us and that we know the truth about! 27 of the 28 cases against Dahn have been dismissed but it looks like
CNN has taken it upon itself to prosecute the case on the air! If I had no clue about what Dahn Yoga is, I would probably have bought the story too! It has all the ingredients of a sentational, rating-grabbing story: Sex, cult, brainwashing – oh yah – and yoga benefiting the health of so many people across this country (boring!) I never watch the local news as it only shows the latest crime in the city and cats stuck in trees and the like! When I moved here from Europe years ago, I right away identified CNN as the only real news station (even showing world news!) but having watched this special report I have woken up to the fact that this needs to be taken up for review! I really hope that viewers who want to find out for themselves, go take a free trial class at a Dahn Center! These classes have benefited so may people in so many ways who in return have had positive impact on the health of their friends and famlily. There are so many ills in the world – this is not one of them – it's YOGA!!!!

Adrian Jefferson   January 8th, 2010 3:02 am ET

Love CNN. You say in your story, Cult and Yoga as if the two things are related. They are not. Yoga is the science of meditation that is mostly about self mastery, and has nothing to do with joining anything except as the word imply union with God. It would be good when you report these stories, if you would give a brief explanation of what Yoga is. Not a cult.

I was involved with Dahn Yoga for over a year. I loved what they were teaching, but I disliked the cost and their sales tactics. I definitely think their business behavior is "cultlike", which is ashame because everyone would benefit from what they teach, and they would have many more students and much more money without the extreme cost and pressure tactics. Dahn Yoga changed my life and how I teach yoga for the better.

Marcia Latimer   January 8th, 2010 1:21 pm ET

I've been going through a battle w/Dahn Yoga to cancel my membership since Oct. 2009 to no avail even through attorneys, tv, BBB & others. My claim being their program changed. How do I get in contact with Attorney Ryan Kent? Thanks for your help. Marcia

anne antonucci   January 8th, 2010 2:43 pm ET

Dear Campbell:

I appreciate you airing the show on Dahn Yoga. The reason I am writing to you is that your broadcast failed to show the benefits of the program. As for myself, I have been a member for 9 years. My comments come strictly from my training and being with members and the masters for the nine years. I am not a paid employee.

The health benefits that I have received for myself and members who I have shared the classes with have been countless. They include: resolving insomnia to easing into menopause without any symptoms, reducing the effects of chemotherapy and radiation, to not having any menstrual symptoms including breast and stomach cramps, or swelling, healing himself from asthma, resolving restless leg syndrome to being healthy and not having the flu or colds. I personally know a member who suffered with depression and was on seven (7) medications and got off of them all and continues to be healthy. On a deeper spiritual level, I found my life purpose to help heal myself and heal the world through holistic and alternative approaches without using prescription drugs. I became a Certified Holistic Health Counselor and Reiki Level 2 Practitioner and Energy healer. People need to know how great they are and how their mind and words affects their body and overall health and they too can heal naturally. I have shared the Dahn yoga principles, and alternative health concepts, and exercises with my clients with incredible results. For me being a firm believer in holistic healing and mind over body techniques, you cannot beat Dahn Yoga and their concepts.

In addition, I feel it is important to let you know that I have done 1000 bows on numerous occasions with the masters and members. It was actually a very exhilarating experience for me. In fact when we got done with the bows, the master took amazing care of us and she even prepared breakfast for us which we all shared together. We are always at choice whether we want to take programs or not. Including bowing, you can leave the room; go to the bathroom, or just stop. It is totally up to you.

About one year ago, I was experiencing severe stress resulting in acid indigestion from my corporate job. I started to use brain wave vibration everyday at home and at my local Dahn Center in Syosset, NY and the symptoms went away within 10 days and have not returned since. I did not change the foods that I was eating or take any over-the-counter drugs or medical attention. I owe it to brain wave vibration. I am sure there is documented evidence from many other Dahn Yoga members who have experienced brain wave vibration with similar results to mine.

I invite you to take a class at a local Dahn center. If you are in the New York area, I would be happy to accompany you to the class. I’m sure that you would really enjoy it.

Have the Best Day Ever!
Anne M. Antonucci

Bryon A Watkins   January 11th, 2010 9:13 pm ET

I'm a Black American and found Harry Reids comment not racist or offensive at all because, it was 100 % true. I've been told the same things about myself. One I remember in 2008 was a co-worker telling me I would do well if I lived in the south because, I speak white and, dress well but, just don't date the white women. Another is wmost whites do except blacks more if they are light-skinned and speaks well without slang. In conclusion. A dummy with an IQ of 2 knows what Trent Lott said was meant to hope blacks were seperated from whites. I'll bet if a black man wanted to date one of their daughters they would go through the roof.

Bryon A Watkins   January 11th, 2010 9:42 pm ET

Let's be honest people. What Senatoer Majority Leader Harry Reid said was fact. Not opinion. I could gone on for years and post all of the things told to me regarding this subject. I had to leave two relationships one because, her father and brother did not like the fact I was black, and the other her father did not like the fact I was black. My point is very clear. I wonder if Barack Obama were darker, married to a pretty white lady, and was not as articulate, would have been elected. I had, yes had, a good friend until he met my wife. Later he told me he would never let his daughter marry a black man. Close to 80% of white America, mostly the men do not want interracial marriage but, funny white women do not mind. As far as blacks, some not nearly a majority don't mind, and the ones that do are only due to the centuries of negativity by white America classifying blacks as second class citizens. If my daughter marrys a white male, icould care less as long as he is disease, crime, unemployment, and racist free.
