Is this a government funded program or does she pay the women from public contributions?

I think its a fantastic idea and should be implemented nation-wide!

It's funded by contributions from the public, no government funds. Unfortunately, the woman uses those funds to take her family and their friends on vacations and to buy computers, cameras, and other electronic equipment for her personal use. Someone needs to look into this.

I couldn't have said it any better.....
Who benefits from an economic model that enables people of less moral substance to reproduce at a higher rate than those of a higher moral substance? The liberals because "Liberalism is the transformation of mankind into cattle" -Friedrich Nietzsche 1878

I was shocked by the biased nature of your reporting on this issue.

Paying women to undergo sterilization, or any medical procedure, is unethical in the extreme. Patient autonomy is the highest ethical principle in medicine. To think that organizations are subverting the patient-physician relationship and providing incentives for sterilization is horrifying. The potentially coercive nature of this program was not even raised once during your program.

Drug addicts, like all Americans, should have access to healthcare services that they choose in consult with their physician. This is yet another reason to provide free healthcare to those who can not afford services on their own.

I ask that Campbell Brown apologize for the blatant bias she demonstrated in reporting on this issue.

Ms. Brown,

Biased perhaps?
Drug users can be good mothers – they need support and the services to help them mother.
Drug use comes from poverty, abuse, sexual abuse, rape. I'd rather not re-victimize women - do the real work and offer treatment and support to drug users, not just their children.
These are not just individual problems; these are societal problems.
